Scotts engaged Group 4 to identify and develop a premium offering in a line of rodent control products under the Ortho® Home Defense Max® brand. In simpler terms, we were to design the world’s best mousetrap.
Observational research across the U.S. led our team to realize the emotional impact associated with pest infestation and focused on safety, ease of use, effectiveness and a no-see/no-touch product solution.
A bevy of features render the trap safe and easy to use. The trap was 3x-20x more effective than competitive products in 3rd party tests and has been The Home Depot’s #1 SKU during the fall season when infestations are likeliest to occur.
Research across diverse climates and housing provided valuable insight into consumer emotions and rodent behaviors.
